Prayer Shawl Ministry

This program provides prayer shawls to parishioners unable to attend Mass due to illness or incapacity, or to members who have lost a loved one or are suffering from trauma.  The shawls are meant to warm the body and the spirit, wrapping the recipient in the love and prayers of our parish community.

Involvement:  Anyone willing to knit or crochet for other parishioners in need of comfort.

Commitment:  The amount of time required to complete a shawl.

If you would like to take a shawl to a neighbor, loved one, or anyone in need of a prayer shawl, please contact Suzanne at 725-4612.

If you have the talent to be able to knit or crochet and would like to use your talent to help those in need, we would love for you to join this worthwhile ministry. Directions for making a shawl are below.

Example of Prayer to say while knitting or crocheting
Dear Heavenly Father, be with the person who will wear this prayer shawl each day. Comfort and console them as you hold them in Your healing presence. May this shawl be a sign of Your love and grace. May this shawl bring warmth when they are weary. May it surround the person and cover them with love to ease the pain and suffering. O Christ, be with the doctors, nurses, technicians and all who care for the sick. May Your strong touch reach out to heal all the broken and hurting people and places in our world. We ask Your blessing on the prayer shawl and the person who will wear it. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
